Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of the Gear List Ready iOS app, the web app at app.gearlistready.com, and the website at gearlistready.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service is operated by Ted Warm, a sole proprietor based in Colorado, United States ("we," "us," "our").

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@gearlistready.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent.

4. Your content

Your lists, categories, items, notes, Category Packs and photo attachments are yours. We do not claim ownership of them.

You grant us a limited licence to store, copy, transmit and display your content solely so that we can operate the Service for you — for example, syncing a list to your other devices, or showing it to someone you shared it with. This licence exists only to run the Service and ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for the content you add. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to share, and do not upload anything unlawful.

5. Shared lists

When you share a list, the people you share it with can view and edit everything on it in real time, and can invite others if you have given them a share link. Treat a share link like a key: anyone who has it can join the list.

You are responsible for what you choose to share and with whom. We are not responsible for what a collaborator does with a list you gave them access to, including editing or deleting items.

6. AI-generated lists

The Service can generate a suggested packing list from a description you provide. These suggestions are produced automatically and are a starting point, not expert advice. They may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your specific trip, conditions, or abilities.

Always apply your own judgement, and consult a qualified professional or guide where your activity calls for one.

7. Not a safety device

Gear List Ready is an organisational tool. It is not a safety system, a certification, a substitute for training, or a guarantee that you are adequately prepared for any activity. Do not rely on it as your sole check before undertaking any activity where inadequate equipment could put you or others at risk, including but not limited to diving, climbing, backcountry travel, mountaineering, and boating. You are solely responsible for your own preparedness and safety.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or harm anyone;
• Upload malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure;
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by placing unreasonable load on it or bypassing rate limits;
• Scrape, harvest or bulk-extract data from the Service by automated means;
• Reverse engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law;
• Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the Service without our written permission;
• Use the AI generation feature to produce unlawful, harmful or abusive content.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service running well, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some features require an internet connection — AI generation, weather forecasts and real-time collaboration among them — and may be unavailable when you are offline or when a third-party provider is down.

We may add, change, suspend or remove features. If we discontinue the Service altogether, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice so you can export your lists.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Google Firebase, WeatherAPI.com and OpenAI. Their availability and performance are outside our control. How your information reaches them is described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, that it will be error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the export feature is there for that.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty United States dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, or where we are required to do so by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — will survive.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top of this page and give notice in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and you and we consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
